Saeed's - Stockport

T 0161 480 5164
A 84 Wellington Rd South, Stockport, Cheshire, SK1 3SU

A small faction of the Curry Council visited Saeed's Indian Restaurant, which is opposite Stockport Town Hall and on the corner of the main road.

Expectation was running high as the restaurant had signage outside proclaiming to be the National Curry Chef - Stockport winner 2004.

It quickly became apparent from the slow service that there appeared to be only one member of staff running the whole restaurant. The chef was both the head waiter, the Chef and chief clearer-up-er. We were the only diners in the small restaurant and this instantly rang alarm bells.

The meal itself was a huge disappointment.  The food was of a very poor standard with very small portion sizes. Our curries all had a similar taste, with a runny texture that could only be likened to Heinz Tomato Soup. The main courses would not be recommended.

The Curry Council left in disbelief and wondered how Saeed's had won such a prestigious award ? We started to contemplate if the time was now right to start their own curry award ceremony.

The Ginger Prince
Gaz Jordan was presented the Fantasy Football League trophy for 2004/2005 and Noble was given a Paul Scholes keyring to remind him that the Ginger Prince had cost him the title thanks to his untimely penalty miss.

  8. Saeed's is a fine place, which I visit regularly. When I have friends come over to Stockport we usually end up in there (the regulars insist). I can only assume the Curry Council picked a bad night, and suggest they try again.

  10. I had almost the exact same experience when I and a group of friends went there - and that was over five years ago. Suffice is to say we never returned. I am amazed they are still open despite not having improved.
