Gary Jordan's July 2005 monthly curry was held at the newly opened 'Khan Saab' Indian Restaurant, located at the Parrs Wood Entertainment Complex in Didsbury.
This was an unusual location for an Indian Restaurant and offered a truly different class of venue for the Curry Council to sample.
The restaurant was designed by Andrew Wallace Architects and Interior Designers and offered a modern and minimalist place for us to enjoy our curry. This is a far cry from some of the dull curry houses on the Rusholme Curry Mile which often offer drab flocked wallpaper, cigarette burned carpets and vulgar gold trimmings.
It is rumoured that the building work and design cost £500k and this is truly reflected by the restaurant's chic interior.
The location of the restaurant (in an entertainment complex that includes a bowling alley and a cinema) meant that there were a number of family groups dining in the restaurant during our visit. This unfortunately meant that the Khan Saab was not really a suitable venue for our often adult orientated curry chaat.
As well as its pleasing aesthestic and great service, the restaurant offered a large and varied menu. The food sampled by the Curry Council was enjoyed by all.
