January’s curry was organised by Beany, which took place at the Seven Spices in Cheadle Hulme (near the Railway station). It was easily located with adequate parking on the road outside and excellent disabled access with a shallow ramp leading the way to the front door. The management team at the Seven Spices are from the the once popular Gaylord restaurant that was in Manchester.
There was a good attendance from Curry council members, with all 8 members there. The restaurant was fairly quiet which was a slight concern. The poppodums arrived via a “Single white female” which instantly had the council worried and from recollection those pops weren’t of the highest standard with poor condiments.

SWf then with assistance brought a varied array of curry main dishes, which was decidedly average, with some members enjoying theirs more than others.
The Bill wasn’t extortionate which eased the value for money aspect and we then had a few pictures taken by Marfez who did a particularly resounding job bearing in mind his cats had recently passed away.

I had just returned back to India after a fortnight stay at Manchester. Let me confide one thing - my desperate search for an 'authentic' Indian food ended at 7Spices..The truth is that most of the so-called authentic cuisine restaurants in Rusholme area are run by Pakistanis and Bangladeshis. They cannot represent the true taste of Indian curry. The food at 7 Spices was good, nicely cooked and finely flavoured. I will definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who wishes to feel the taste of Indian cusine
I missed the Gaylord terribly when it closed down. It was by pure chance that I overheard a couple mention the 7 Spices (in the Jai Kathmandu - Northenden - another good Nepalese eatery) and that it was run by the previous Gaylord owners. Naturally I went there poste haste. The menu is very different to the Gaylord - but the food is as close as you can get to the authentic Indian taste - beats Rusholme eateries into a cocked hat. My experience of Indian / Asian food ? - 8 years living and working all over Middle East, Africa (& India) and very few UK Indian / Asian restaurants come any where near reminding me of what good Indian food tastes like. & Spices is definitely one
I disagree completely with the negativity expressed on the site about this restaurant
The vast majority of visitors to Indian restaurants in the UK graduate to Indian food via their local kebab shop after the consumption of 6-10 pints of local ale which has clearly degraded their pallets to such an extent that their understanding of good Indian cuisine is woefully inept.
I have eaten Indian food from Australia to Delhi via the Middle East to San Francisco and the quality of the food at the 7 spices is amongst the finest in the world
I would however volunteer that the hunt for Ron Mael the keyboard accomplice in the 70’s electronic dance band “Sparks” is over as he is alive and well improvising as the restaurant manager at the 7 spices in Cheadle Hulme

Since i have been to gaylord indian resturant in manchester many times which by the way was amazing.
Seven spices brings the same quality, or even better quality of food and atmosphere.
Same team that brings gaylord(manchester and london)
Food is superb, great menu, excellent service, drink menu is also great. Calm and Relaxing atmosphere.
A real indian resturant of outstanding quality.
Which blows all indian resturants based in city centre and curry mile out of the water.
Also if they dont have what you want on the menu, just ask and they will prepare it for you.
Btw the cooking team is different to the gaylord cooking team
i give them a 15/10
the extra 5 points for value of money
In my opinion and that of quite a few of my friends, the quality and authenticity of the food served at this resaurant is hard to find in the North west of England. The food is simply outstanding, far better than that of the previous Gaylord. The comments and opinion expressed by the Curry Coucil should be re visited.
Its perhaps worth noting that the comments and experience that the curry council had was based on their experience at the restaurant on the evening they visited.
Obviously dining experiences will differ depending upon what staff, chef’s and other external factors happened on the evening.
The review is opinion only.
I'm sure that the curry council would be more than happy to revisit if they were invited back to the restaurant.
I will be visiting the restaurant this coming week as there is a special set menu with an outstanding quantity of dishes for a very reasonable £18.95 per head.
This is a celebration of the Hindu festival called Diwali which promises to be excellent.
I will let you all know the result or perhaps the Curry Council should refrain from acting like Stockport council and pay for a visit

As I have read some of your reviews, it seems youre a bunch of lads who like their beer and traditional English "Chicken Tikka Massala" or "Beef Vindaloo". The 7 Spices is about traditional Indian Cuisine and not the muck churned out in your standard Friday Saturday night indian. The 7 Spices is excellent, the perfect treat for the more sophisticated of eaters. 10/10
We are of Indian origin, have eaten at excellent indian restaurants both here and internationally and visit this restaurant almost weekly. I am not even tempted to eat in rusholme as the food does not even come close. We think it is the best Indian restaurant in manchester
I agree with Jonathan
I have visited the restaurant again recently and tried one of the special starters (fish) and a special main course (can't pronounce the name although it contained chicken)
Absolutely wonderful
Keep it going Ron (sparks keyboard player)
Excellent

Been 4 times and the food has been excellent every time. A bit more costly than your averga indian but its worth it and the food is of a different class i.e not your standard run of the mill curry.
Been to the Seven Spice a couple of times. Really enjoyed it. Will be back again.
