At this time of their lives the currycouncil had simpler tastes and less disposable income. The Bengal's mid week special meal deal was the main attraction of this basic restaurant.
The restaurant was located in Offerton and offered good food at a reasonable price.
In 2001, the restaurant even offered a 'County Classics' menu that included many Stockport County inspired dishes for the die hard County fan to feast on.
It included the Kilner Keema Karahi, a fiery meat dish named after Stockport County legend Andy Kilner, the Big Kev Korma, after former striker Kevin Francis, and the Balti Bhuna Bellis, after club secretary Steve Bellis.
They also served up a plate of poppodums named after manager Carlton Palmer. Other football-inspired platters include the Danny Dhansak, a chicken dish created for former County boss Danny Bergara, and the Porteous Pathia, a hot and spicy prawn dish in memory of Mr Stockport County, Trevor Porteous.
In 2003, the restaurant was fined nearly £9000 for "endangering health" by Stockport Magistrates Court. Read the full story HERE.
This restaurant has since changed name and possibly ownership and is now known as the 'Offerton Balti Restaurant'.
