Mango Lounge - Stockport

RESTAURANT NOW CLOSED

The Curry Council entered the Mango Lounge with high expectations. The restaurant is on the site of a former lap dancing bar and this immediately had the Council dreaming of scantily clad waitresses serving them ice cold pints of Cobra and asking them for a nibble of their poppodums. Unfortunately, this was not the case.

The venue itself was quite basic with a modern decor. Metallic night club style stools line the bar area. The cold aesthetics did not add to the dining experience.

However, the Mango Lounge had a large window into the kitchen and it was quite easy to see the chefs preparing our food.
Poppodums were served with a selection of condiments. The mixed starters arrived luke warm and were of an average quality and quantity.

A variety of different main courses were had by our group and were all of a similar taste and texture.
The restaurant was completely empty throughout the visit, which was not particularly a good sign on a Wednesday evening.

The service was good but this is not the place for the curry eating connessuer or anyone who appreciates authentic Indian food.

Food 4/10
Service 6/10
Atmosphere 2/10
Value for money 5/10
Originality 4/10
Overall 4.2/10

The Mango Lounge Restaurant has since changed its name to Zeera, please click here to read more.

  1. I would urge you to go back to The Mango Lounge and try it again as the specials there are outstanding. I'm really confused by what you have said about them. I understand what you mean about the restaurant itself - it is too big and has virtually no passing trade because of where it is placed - however, the food there is the best Indian food I have had anywhere in Manchester (and everyone I know who has been there agrees). Please return and try a number of the specials/chef recommendation/fish curries and then write another review about it.

  2. Mate, are you mental? It's one of the worst curry houses I've been to - the sauce is like water, the'meat' isn't fresh, and the waiter tried ripping us off big time! I think you need to make a trip to the Blue Nile in the grove to compare - This is by far one of the best in the north west!
