The newly opened Red Rose in Hazel Grove has been transformed into an ultra-modern restaurant with a Floral design running throughout. The restaurant is small, comfortable and extremely light. It’s a million miles away from the traditional themed Indian restaurants found elsewhere. I sense Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen must have been involved somewhere during the design phase.

On arrival (Wednesday evening, 7:30pm) the restaurant was fairly quiet. However we felt more assured of our choice of venue when the place began to fill up.
The popadoms were perfect - crispy without being greasy and the accompanying chutneys and pickles (5 in total) in an array of vibrant colours were in plentiful supply and very tasty. The red chilli was very spicy and was given the thumbs up.
The Chef Special Starters –Chicken wings marinated in yoghurt seasoned and spiced were well appreciated whilst the stuffed mushrooms with spicey minced meat did not disappoint.
The Red Rose prides itself by offering authentic traditional style Bangladeshi and contemporary Indian cuisine. Having enjoyed the first two courses the currycouncil were feeling rather adventurous and opted for a series of unique “Deshi” dishes.
The Kitchen Special (a traditional deshi dish) consisted of tandoori chicken cooked with chopped mushrooms with a hidden sheek kebab inside. This was a nicely spiced curry enjoyed by Chris "Staff curry" M-S.

The accompanying dishes of sag aloo, pilau rice and various naan breads rounded off the meal perfectly and there was more than enough left over to feed a third person.
If the food was exquisite the service was second to none. The waiters were friendly and attentive and the timing between courses was ideal, we opted for a slightly longer wait in between the starters and main course.
The Red Rose clearly pride themselves on customer service. We reviewed a stack of comment cards which were unanimous in praising the levels of customer service and food. There were also a few offering constructive criticism - always important for any new venture.
It is also worth noting that the Red Rose Restaurant provides an online ordering and delivery service. This is the first restaurant we've visited in Stockport which offers this.
Based on our first experience you will not be disappointed. So whether you're dining in or out the Red Rose is well worth a visit.
