Being from pakistan myself, i would like to think that i know the food which is classed as Indian/Pakistani.
Firstly, there is absolutely no link between the Balti and Baltistan. Its just a fabricated tale of someone's screwed up imagination. I have been to Akbar's in Manchester, Leeds and Middlesbrough and can safely say its nowhere close to the far far superior EasztzEast and Lal Qila in terms of food and service.
I have been informed that all the starters and sauces are prepared in bardford and shipped to the other Akbar's restaurants. Considering the stale starters ive had on more than a couple of occasions, it looks like the van broke down on the way!

We have been to this restaurant twice - on a Frida...

We have been to this restaurant twice - on a Friday and a Saturday night. The suggestion that this is in any way one of the 'best' restaurants anywhere seems totally amazing. You invariably wait for ages to be served, the food is not hot, the service is rushed so as to maximise the number of people eating each evening. Eating out is an expensive hobby nowadays and it takes a lot to be regarded as 'best' - good quality ingredients that are freshly prepared - on both occasions our rice was over cooked as it had clearly been left in the 'warmer' too long. I am beginning to think it best that I do not comment on this website in future as the Curry Council's judgements seem totally at odds with mine!
